Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE)
Castleview Hospital proudly offers free and confidential services to survivors of sexual violence age 16 and older who consent. These services are provided by specialty-trained sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE) who have been trained on best practices to care for survivors of sexual and physical violence.
These medical-forensic exams may be offered up to six days after the assault. This medical evaluation is highly encouraged and will help connect you with valuable community resources and additional support. This thorough evaluation ensures screenings for life-threatening injuries, collects forensic evidence and provides medications as needed based on your exam. The specialty exam is survivor-driven and allows the survivor to be empowered to make decisions for care and the ability to keep all information private.
