Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding offers numerous health benefits for both mothers and babies.
For mothers
- It helps reduce the risk of certain cancers, such as breast and ovarian cancer
- Can promote faster postpartum recovery by helping the uterus return to its pre pregnancy size
- it can improve emotional well-being as breastfeeding triggers the release of oxytocin which fosters bonding and reduces stress.
For babies
- Breast milk provides the perfect balance of nutrients, antibodies, and enzymes that help boost the immune system and promote healthy growth
- Breast milk reduces the risk of infections and chronic conditions such as asthma or diabetes
- The bond created during breastfeeding also fosters emotional security for the child
Ultimately breastfeeding supports both short term and long-term health for both mother and child
Breastfeeding/Lactation Class
The Lactation class is for new or expecting mothers who would like information, or previous mothers that would like support, with breastfeeding. The class is instructed by one of our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. There is limited space, so we ask that only one support person be by your side. The class will be held in the Castleview Hospital Boardroom. An RSVP is required. Call the OB or Nursery Team at 435.636.4828 to schedule or register online.
